Descrizione
Di forma globosa e di piccole dimensioni, presenta un'infinità di piccole areole irte di spine che ricoprono per intero il fusto. Produce fiori rossi che sbocciano sul suo apice nel periodo estivo.
Distribuzione e habitat
La pianta è originaria del Nuovo Mondo, nei territori desertici degli Stati Uniti (Arizona, Nuovo Messico, Texas) e nel Messico nord occidentale (Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí e Zacatecas).[1]
Coltivazione
Ha bisogno di stare in un luogo caldo e soleggiato, mai inferiore ai 10°, in quanto la minima temperatura che riesce a sopportare è solamente di 8° sopra lo zero.
Il terreno da utilizzare è quello classico e le annaffiature devono essere abbondanti, una-due volte a settimana, da aprile a fine agosto.
Concimare una volta al mese da maggio a settembre.

Epithelantha micromeris is a button cactus in the genus Epithelantha, found in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and northeast Mexico. It is characterized by its white-grey spines growing on a globular shaped stem. The density of its white spines give it the illusion of being completely grey, making it very difficult to see the green color beneath. It grows to be 1–5 cm tall, and roughly 2–4 cm in diameter. E. micromeris produces small, pink-white flowers, often considered to be some of the smallest of the cacti. These flowers give way to a bright red, cylindrical fruit which contains several black seeds and also is edible.[1][es] Epithelantha micromeris
