Habitat e distribuzione


Comune nell'Oceano Atlantico orientale, dalla Penisola Iberica al Golfo di Biscaglia, nel Mar Mediterraneo, Mar Nero e Canale di Suez. Molto comune nella Laguna veneta[2]. Specie bentonica, reperibile da pochi metri fino a 70 di profondità, quasi mai in mare ma molto più spesso in lagune e foci, in acque salmastre.


Descrizione


Corpo allungato di colore grigio, chiaro nelle femmine e più scuro nei maschi, puntinati in bruno-rosso, ventre bianco. Capo tozzo con occhi sporgenti, labbra carnose. Sono presenti due pinne dorsali, staccate tra di loro, la pinna caudale è di forma arrotondata. Pinne pettorali sviluppate. Fino a circa 8 centimetri.


Alimentazione


Si nutre di crostacei e altri invertebrati.


Riproduzione


La cova avviene in due periodi distinti, da metà aprile a metà luglio e da metà agosto a fine settembre[2]. Vive fino a circa 17 mesi di età.

Pomatoschistus marmoratus, the marbled goby, is a species of goby native to the eastern Atlantic from the Bay of Biscay down around the Iberian Peninsula through the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. It is also found in the Suez Canal in Egypt.[1][2] It occurs in marine and brackish waters on sandy substrates in shallow waters, typically down to 20 m (66 ft), but occasionally to 70 m (230 ft) in the winter.[1][2] It can reach a length of 8 cm (3.1 in) TL though most do not exceed 5 centimetres (2.0 in) TL.[2]
