Intsia palembanica, nota anche come Merbau, è una pianta arborea della famiglia delle Fabaceae, originaria del Sud-Est Asiatico e delle isole del Pacifico sudoccidentale.[1][2][3][4]. Si differenzia da Intsia bijuga per il diverso numero di foglioline costituente le loro foglie composte[5].

Dal 23 Agosto 2019 I.Palembanica è l'albero nazionale della Malesia, dove è conosciuto con il nome di pokok merbau[4] .

Intsia palembanica is a species of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae. The plant common names include Borneo teak, Malacca teak, merbau and Moluccan ironwood where it is native to tropical rainforests in Southeast Asia and the islands of the southwest Pacific.[3][4] Intsia palembanica differ from Intsia bijuga in the number of leaflets that make up their compound leaves.[5]

Intsia palembanica est une espèce végétale de la famille des Caesalpiniaceae, ou Fabaceae selon la classification phylogénique. C'est un grand arbre atteignant 50 m de hauteur. Il vit dans les forêts tropicales humides du sud-est asiatique. On le trouve dans les forêts de plaine à Diptérocarpacées, et jusqu'à 1 000 m d'altitude sur les stations qui lui conviennent. Il est appelé, de même que l'espèce Intsia bijuga, arbre de fer.
