Distribuzione e habitat
Questa specie è endemica della regione mediterranea centro-occidentale.[1]
Tassonomia
Il Sistema Cronquist includeva questa specie tra le Liliaceae.[3]
In precedenza la sottofamiglia Aphyllanthoideae era considerata come famiglia separata, Aphyllanthaceae[2].
La classificazione APG IV la riconosce come sottofamiglia della famiglia Asparagaceae.[4]
