Poisson-perroquet brun

Scarus niger est une espèce de poissons-perroquets tropicaux, de la famille des Scaridae. On l'appelle souvent « Poisson-perroquet brun » en français.

Description et caractéristiques

La phase initiale est grisâtre avec 3 à 5 « selles » jaune vif sur le dos ; la tête est verdâtre et certaines extrémités rouges. La phase terminale (mâle) est brun verdâtre, avec une marque jaune au-dessus de l'opercule. Les nageoires sont rougeâtres liserées de bleu, avec une nageoire caudale fourchue[2]. La taille maximale atteint 40 cm[2].

Habitat et répartition

Cette espèce se rencontre dans l'Indo-Pacifique tropical[2].

Scarus niger, common names the swarthy parrotfish, dusky parrotfish, and black parrotfish, is a species of parrotfish. It is in the phylum Chordata, class Actinopterygii, and family Scaridae. Like other members of its family, it has characteristic 10 dorsal soft rays, 9 dorsal spines, 9 anal soft rays, and 3 anal spines,[3] It is found in Indo-West and Central Pacific, from the Red Sea, north to Japan, south to Australia and east to French Polynesia. It is found in lagoons, channels and outer reefs slopes on the depths of 2 to 20 metres (6 ft 7 in to 65 ft 7 in).[4] The dusky parrotfish often lives in solitude, but males may also live in a small group of mating females. The dusky parrotfish is primarily herbivorous, and its main source of food is benthic algae. At maturity, the fish is approximately 230-240mm long and weighs around 240g.[3]

Тёмный скар[1] (лат. Scarus niger) — вид лучепёрых рыб семейства рыб-попугаев (Scaridae). Он встречается в Индо-Тихоокеанской области, от Красного моря к северу до Японии, на юге Австралии и востоке Французской Полинезии. Обитает в разных зонах коралловых рифов на глубинах от 2 до 20 метров. Часто живёт в одиночке, но самцы могут также жить в небольшой группе спаривающихся самок. Тёмный скар растительноядный, и основным источником пищи являются донные водоросли. В зрелом возрасте рыба составляет примерно 23-24 см в длину и весит около 240 г.
