Écologie et comportement
Hoplopleura hirsuta a pour hôte des Sigmodon comme Sigmodon arizonae (en), Sigmodon hispidus (en), Sigmodon ochrognathus et Sigmodon peruanus (en)[1].
Il est l'hôte de la bactérie Bartonella vinsonii (en)[2].
