Fedexia est un genre éteint et fossile d’amphibiens temnospondyles carnivores de la famille des Trematopidae. Il n'est représenté que par une seule espèce, Fedexia strigeli.


Présentation


Il a vécu il y a 300 millions d'années à la fin du Carbonifère. On estime sa longueur entre 90 cm et 1,20 m et ressemblait probablement à une salamandre[1],[2].

Fedexia est connu par un seul crâne de 11,5 cm de long en bon état de conservation[3].

Il tire son nom du service d'expédition FedEx, propriétaire du terrain où l'holotype a été trouvé en , le long d'une route en construction près de l'aéroport de Pittsburgh, par Adam Striegel alors étudiant en géologie[1],[3],[4].

Le genre Fedexia et l'espèce Fedexia strigeli ont été décrits en 2010 par David S. Berman (d), Amy C. Henrici (d), David K. Brezinski (d) et Albert D. Kollar (d)

Федексия (лат. Fedexia striegeli) — небольшой трематопид, живший около 300 млн лет на территории нынешнего штата Пенсильвания, США. Родовое название происходит от компании FedEx, видовое название отмечает заслуги Адама Стригела (Adam Striegel), обнаружившего образец. Череп животного составляет 11,5 см. Общая длина тела составляет 0,6 метров[1]. Описана в 2010 году.
