Уильям Альфред Вебер (англ. William Alfred Weber[5], 16 ноября 1918 — 18 марта 2020) — американский[5] ботаник и миколог[5], почётный профессор Колорадского университета в Боулдере.

Систематик живой природы

Биография

Уильям Альфред Вебер родился в 1918 году[5].

Вебером был предложен первый вариант системы трёхбуквенных обозначений названий семейств сосудистых растений в статье «Mnemonic three-letter acronyms for the families of vascular plants: a device for more effective herbarium curation», опубликованной в 1982 году в журнале «Taxon» (том 31, стр. 74—88). После этого система дорабатывалась как самим Вебером[6][7], так и другими ботаниками, среди которых можно выделить американца Нейла Сноу, сотрудника Bishop Museum, Гонолулу, США.

Уильям Альфред Вебер внёс значительный вклад в ботанику, описав множество видов растений[8].

Научная деятельность

Уильям Альфред Вебер специализировался на Мохообразных, семенных растениях и на микологии[5].
