Descrizione
La pianta è un arbusto sempreverde, ma è anche caducifoglia. Si caratterizza dal portamento arrotondato con ramificazioni molto dense con foglie opposte, lanceolate-oblunghe, coriacee o riunite in gruppi sullo stesso nodo e da un fogliame verde scuro, lucido e leggermente ceroso. I fiori sono bianchi grandi ed imbutiformi con corolle semplici, semidoppie o doppie.[2]
Distribuzione e habitat
La specie è originaria dell'Estremo Oriente (Giappone, Cina e sudest asiatico).[3]

Gardenia jasminoides, commonly known as gardenia,[2] is an evergreen flowering plant in the coffee family Rubiaceae. It is native to parts of South-East Asia. Wild plants range from 30 centimetres to 3 metres (about 1 to 10 feet) in height.
