Nepenthes villosa est une espèce de plantes carnivores de montagne vivant en Malaisie entre 2400 et 3200 m d'altitude sur le Mont Kinabalu et son voisin le Mont Tambuyukon (Bornéo).

Étymologie

Nepenthes, du grec "νηπενθες" (composé de "νη", "sans", et "πενθoς", "douleur du deuil") signifiant ainsi "qui dissipe la douleur". Plante connue dans l'Antiquité (Pline le Jeune) comme un remède à la déprime : mélangée au vin, elle devait chasser les soucis.

Villosa: du latin "villosus", signifiant "velu, couvert de poils"

Nepenthes villosa ist eine fleischfressende Pflanze aus der Gattung Kannenpflanzen (Nepenthes). Sie wurde um 1860 vom Botaniker Joseph Dalton Hooker erstbeschrieben. Das Artepitheton villosa ist dem lateinischen Wort „villosus“ entlehnt, welches „pelzig“ bedeutet und zum einen auf die raue Behaarung der Pflanze anspielt und zum anderen das fransig wirkende Peristom der Kannen beschreibt.

Nepenthes villosa /nɪˈpɛnθiːz vɪˈloʊzə/, or the villose pitcher-plant,[4] is a tropical pitcher plant endemic to Mount Kinabalu and neighbouring Mount Tambuyukon in northeastern Borneo. It grows at higher elevations than any other Bornean Nepenthes species, occurring at elevations of over 3,200 m (10,500 ft). Nepenthes villosa is characterised by its highly developed and intricate peristome, which distinguishes it from the closely related N. edwardsiana and N. macrophylla.[5]
