Haemanthus est un genre de plantes monocotylédones de la famille des Amaryllidaceae, sous-famille des Amaryllidoideae, qui comprend 22 espèces connues, originaires d'Afrique du Sud, du Botswana, de la Namibie, du Lesotho et du Swaziland. Ce genre est très proche dans la tribu Haemantheae du genre Scadoxus.

Haemanthus is a Southern African genus of flowering plants in the family Amaryllidaceae, subfamily Amaryllidoideae.[1] Members of the genus are known as blood lily and paintbrush lily. There are some 22 known species, native to South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini. About 15 species occur in the winter rainfall region of Namaqualand and the Western Cape, the remainder being found in the summer rainfall region, with one species Haemanthus albiflos occurring in both regions.

Haemanthus L. es un género de pequeñas plantas perennes y planta bulbosa perteneciente a la familia Amaryllidaceae, el cual comprende 22 especies nativas de Sudáfrica. Desde su llegada a Europa a principios del siglo XVII, provenientes del cabo de Buena Esperanza, las especies de este género han gozado de gran popularidad por sus vistosas inflorescencias de colores brillantes.[1]
