Coula edulis est une espèce de Coula de la famille des Olacaceae (ou des Coulaceae selon la classification APG III).

C'est un arbre fruitier des régions tropicales.

Utilisation

Bois

Le bois, coloré en brun-rose à brun-violacé, est dur et résistant. Il peut être utilisé pour la construction de gros œuvre, ou pour fabriquer du charbon[1].

Coula edulis ist eine große Baumart aus der Familie der Olacaceae, in der Unterfamilie der Anacalosoideae und ist die einzige Art der Gattung Coula. Sie wächst im tropischen Westafrika. Die rundlichen Samen sind auch bekannt als Afrikanische Walnüsse, wie die ähnlichen Samen von Plukenetia conophora. Sie sind nicht zu verwechseln mit der Kolanuss.

Coula edulis is a tree in the genus Coula, native to tropical western Africa from Sierra Leone to Angola. It is plentiful in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. It prefers tropical regions and is tolerant of light shade. It can be found in the top canopy of forest as well as the lower story and has no special soil requirements.
