Viola reichenbachiana, the early dog-violet[1] or pale wood violet, is a flowering plant in the violet family Violaceae.

It is named for Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach, an 18th century botanist and orchid specialist.[2]
This species hybridises with Viola riviniana, the common dog-violet, to produce Viola × bavarica Schrank 1789.[3]: 334
