Broadly obovate, base tapering, obtuse to rounded apex, veins invisible; dark green, shiny above; young flush reddish.
Bark - gray, finely cracked; Wood - yellow, hard, heavy; twigs quadrangular.
White to pinkish red, few, small, nearly sessile.
Black berry, tipped with calyx.
Montane forest subcanopy.
