Scophthalmus maeoticus (Black Sea turbot or kalkan) is a fish species in the family Scophthalmidae. It is widespread in the Black Sea.[1] It is sometimes treated as a subspecies of the turbot, Scophthalmus maximus, which is common in the Mediterranean Sea.[2] The taxonomic status of this species is under discussion. It is an important commercial species.

Черноморский калкан, или азовский калкан, или азовский ромб[2] (лат. Scophthalmus maeoticus) — вид лучепёрых рыб семейства Scophthalmidae отряда камбалообразных. Если выделяют мелкую форму, обитающую в Азовском море, как подвид, то названия азовский калкан или азовский ромб относятся к нему. По мнению некоторых исследователей[3], название Scophthalmus maeoticus является синонимом Scophthalmus maximus, или тюрбо.
