Systématique et taxinomie
Ce genre a été décrit par Mello-Leitão en 1917 comme un sous-genre d'Uloborus. Il est élevé au rang de genre par Lehtinen en 1967[3].
Ponella[4] a été placée en synonymie par Grismado en 2004[5].
