Le Mérou pintade (Epinephelus chlorostigma) est une espèce de mérou de la famille des Serranidae.
Le Sultanat d'Oman lui a dédié un timbre, émis en 1999[1].

Comme d'autres poissons, le mérou pintade a de nombreux parasites, y compris plusieurs espèces de monogènes sur ses branchies[3],[4], et le digène Neidhartia lochepintade dans son intestin[2]. Ce parasite tient son nom du nom calédonien du poisson, "loche pintade".

The brownspotted grouper (Epinephelus chlorostigma), also known as the brown spotted reef cod, brown-spotted rockcod, coral grouper or honeycomb cod, is a species of marine ray-finned fish, a grouper from the subfamily Epinephelinae which is part of the family Serranidae, which also includes the anthias and sea basses. It has an Indo-Pacific distribution but in the northern Indian Ocean this distribution is discontinuous.
