Le Barbaray jaune et gris (Haiti), Barbaray rouge (Haiti), Capucin jaune (France) ou Souris jaune (Haiti) est un poisson de la famille des Mullidae.

En Guadeloupe les appellations de ce poisson sont aussi d'une très grande variété : Barbarin blanc, Souris blanche, Capucin jaune, Rouget de roche, Rouget queue jaune (en anglais : Yellow goatfish)[1].

Origine du nom scientifique

Mulloidichthys : Du latin mullus = rouget, du grec ichtyo = poisson et de martinicus = de la Martinique.

D'où la signification : Poisson-rouget de la Martinique[2].

[en] Yellow goatfish

The yellow goatfish (Mulloidichthys martinicus), also known as yellowsaddle, is a species of goatfish native to the Atlantic Ocean around the coasts of Africa and the Americas. This species can reach a total length of 39.4 cm (15.5 in), but most reach lengths only around 28 cm (11 in). They are of minor importance to local commercial fisheries, though they have been reported to carry the ciguatera toxin.[2]
