It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.[2]
Description
It is 16 cm (6.3 in) in length and weighs 60 g (2.1 oz).[2] It has white eyerings and dark lores.
Behaviour and ecology
Diet
Its diet consists mainly of fruits, seeds, berries and small nuts.[2]
Habitat and distribution
Its range encompasses Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. It mainly inhabits forest edge and understory in terra firme and varzea forest. It has been observed up to an elevation of 1,200 m (3,900 ft).[2]

Il pappagallino spallescarlatte (Touit huetii Temminck, 1830) è un uccello della famiglia degli Psittacidi. Caratterizzato dalle spalle rosse, con una zona rossa molto diffusa nella parte inferiore dell'ala nel maschio e verde con poco rosso nella femmina, ha piumaggio base verde, più pallido nelle parti ventrali, taglia attorno ai 16 cm, una seconda banda sulla spalla di colore blu e la parte inferiore della coda rossa nel maschio. La testa mostra una corona nero-blu appena accennata, guance azzurre e fronte e lati della testa bruni; tutte colorazioni che mancano nei soggetti immaturi, essendo tutta la zona verde.
